About COMS

COMS 2013 is the 18th edition of the annual international conference on commercializing micro- and nanotechnology. In the past, COMS has been organized in the following countries: Norway (2012), USA (2011 and 2010), Copenhagen (2009), Mexico (2008), Australia (2007), USA (2006), Germany (2005), Canada (2004), the Netherlands (2003) and the United Kingdom (2001). We are proud that the Netherlands will be the host of the 2013 edition of the commercialization of micro- and nanotechnology conference in Enschede.

The upcoming edition will be hosted in Enschede, the Netherlands from 25-28 August. This edition is all about connecting different worlds, realizing creative systems.

COMS2013 "MATCH-to-NANO" service

The East Netherlands Development Agency (Oost NV), the Chamber of Commerce of East Netherlands, MESA+, NanoNextNL and MinacNed, with the support of the Province Overijssel, are organizing "Match-to-NANO" service in advance of and during the COMS2013 conference. Based on your specific inputs, we will try to identify interested parties in (East)Netherlands and organize one-to-one meetings with these parties for you during breaks and spare moments of the conference so your time is spent well.

Micro and Nanotechnology Commercialization Education Foundation (MANCEF) is a global membership association focused on the commercialization of small technologies. As an educational non-profit, their goal is to facilitate connections and educate those bringing emerging technologies to market. COMS is an international conference owned and hosted by members of MANCEF.

During a special international edition of the COMS Young Technology Award on Monday the 26th of August the judges awarded C-Voltaics with 5000 euros. The American company offers a range of coatings that serve as an invisible protector that shun liquids from fabrics like carpets, tarpaulin, wood, plastics and glass. The award for innovative young nanotechnology companies was handed out by Prof. Steve Walsh of the University of New Mexico.  The audience voted Paul Vulto with MIMETAS their favorite, awarding him the special Audience Prize worth 1000 euros. MIMETAS offers organ-on-a-chip solutions for testing new drugs.

Six international nanotechnology companies battled for the special edition of the COMS Young Technology Award on Monday:

- Ouchless Glucose (America), offering a painless and continuous glucose monitoring system for diabetes patients.
- Serstech (Sweden), offering a small spectrometer to analyze unknown chemicals in an instant.
